Four Fun Ways to Make Your Front Yard More Enjoyable

The tailgating season and the fall outdoor party season are both here! Enjoy this time of the year with your family and friends. You can enjoy the outdoors in your front yard without ever having to leave home. We have some great ideas for yard games that will make your party unforgettable.

1. Outdoor Pictionary/Chalkboard:

If you are a crafty family, you can make a DIY chalkboard and play Pictionary together. The chalkboard is simple to make, and your children will be able to draw on it.

* First, measure the area to be painted and mark it. You can also buy wooden boards that can be hung up. We recommend two boards of 3"x5" glued together. If you have very small children, place the chalkboard on the ground just a little bit.

* Next, you will need a quarter of chalkboard paint. Paint the boards in two coats.

* Once the paint dries, you will have a great spot to play outdoor Pictionary.

* Tip: Add style to your chalkboard by creating a border (and even putting in a hook for a bucket of chalk).

2. Glow-in-the-dark Bowling:

This family-friendly activity will be a hit with everyone. You should play this game at night to be able to see all the pins lit up. Plus, it's cooler out!

You'll need 6 water bottles, 6 glow sticks, and a large tennis ball (available at a pet retailer).

* Use the glow sticks to activate the bottles. Drop one in each glass. Take the labels off your bottles of water.

* A flat, level surface is necessary to set up your bowling alley. Place the "pins" in triangles and use the large, tennis-sized ball as your bowling balls.

3. Bobbing for Donuts:

This activity is very enjoyable if you have trees in your yard. The objective of the game: Eat as many donuts as possible. In this game, everyone wins!

* First, buy 12 donuts and tie some string on them.

* Tie the string to the branch at the other end. Hang the donuts from different heights. Make sure that you are able to reach all the donuts.

4. Cornhole:

This traditional game is a huge hit with families. You can make your own boards, and it is easy to make. This game is best for older kids and adults. You can, however, move the boards closer together if you have smaller children.

* Cut two 24"x48" boards. Then, angle the boards up 12 inches.

* Place the boards approximately 27 feet apart. If you have children younger than 7, place them closer.
